Ylvis Episode

Do you know Ylvis?? They are Norwegian brothers and TV tag-team Ylvis,  They have created a stir among Kyrgyz Internet users with their song “Zhanym” (“dear”, or “my soul” translated from Kyrgyz). The two brothers, comedians and musicians Bard and Vegard Ylvisakers visited Kyrgyzstan last summer to record a song in a mixture of Russian and Kyrgyz, which they later released and performed in Norway. The lyrics of the original “Zhanym” were fairly innocuous, but their decision to perform an “explicit” version of the song for a Norwegian TV channel provoked a mixed reaction from local Internet

Traditional dishes

The Kyrgyz diet reflects the traditional nomadic life of the Kyrgyz people. Food emphasizes meat, mainly mutton, with comparatively little in vegetable and fruit- However, through centuries of contact, forced and otherwise, with other Asian cultures and through years of cohabitation with Russians, the Kyrgyz have substantially augmented their cuisine. Most eating establishments offer lagman, plov, shorpo, shashlik, manti as core of its menu, with chai (tea) and lepyoshka. The selection can get monotonous but at least you know what to expect. Unless the menu states otherwise, the meat of choice is mutton.

Woooo Kyrgyz food~~ I once tasted. Below the picture, those were what I had. I can't remember the name of the dishes bu still remember the taste. The noodle with beef, it tastes like what we call "Janchi noodle" (잔치국수). However it was a bit more oily but still tasty. Desserts, in my opinion, dry yogurt was not my type, I couldn't swallow..... But the one yellowy cookies were seriously delicious. I kept eating the cookies. I recommand you to have noodle with the yellowy cookies not dry yogurt :)

Traditional customs

Kyrgyz clothes are characterised by many definite features, typical for the clothes of nomadic people. That can be explained by their historical mode of life, related to nomadic cattle breeding. Also very large mark on the character of clothes left the mountain climate with its temperature excursions. This required to have different kinds of warm clothes, sometimes used even in summer time, such us wool robes or sheepskin coats. Very widely were used clothes made of wool burlap, or fells of domestic or wild animals. In 18-19 centuries, the Kyrgyzes made most of their clothes from the fabrics imported from China and other Central Asian Khanates, they also wore imported clothes and footwear. In the north Kyrgyzstan were imported the fabrics from Russia (chintz, calico, muslin, nankeen etc.) Basic type of the clothes and its cut were spread everywhere.

Also the hat, I wore the triangle one, it is quite heavy and big.  I heard these days the customs become more simplify.
It was a great experience for me to were the customs. If you visit Kyrgyzstan, why don't you try?

Kyrgyzstan's Golden Eagle Hunters

Eagle Huynting is a traditional festival in Kyrgyzstan.
I have never heard of it before.
From the sky, the golden eagle is one of the most lethal hunters on the planet.
On the ground, in the rugged mountains of Kyrgyzstan, it seemed that grown men and young boys everywhere had a raptor on his arm, his shoulder or, sometimes, his head. But these eagles are not pets. They are hunting partners, the eagles earn enough money to support entire communities, and they are considered part of Kyrgyz families.

Kyrgyzstan Weddings

Kyrgyzstan Weddings In Kyrgyzstan the ancient practice of "bride kidnapping" is now prohibited by law. Of course, now some of these abductions are staged, either for romantic reasons or by couples who would otherwise face family opposition! The majority of Kyrgyz weddings, however, take place through matchmaking arrangements between the parents of the bride and groom. And, nowadays, many young people - especially in the cities - prefer to get to know each other first by "going out" together and thus have a more active role in the decision of who they will marry.

When I first hear the word " bride kidnapping", I thought it is so disgusing. How could be a bride kidnapped???
In my mind, the marriage should be with one man and one woman who love each other.
Actually, these days the bride kidnapping is prohibitd thankfully, many people get marry whom they love. I think bride kidnapping should be prohibited forever.

Kyrgyzstan Bazaars

There are three main Bazaar in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. First one is Osh Bazaar, second one is Dordoy Bazaar and the last one is Karakol.

Osh Bazaar is the most vibrant and fascinating palce to immerse in the local cultyre. They have everything so if you visit there, many tourists recommen here to buy souveniers.

The Dordoy Bazaar is a major shopping center. They sell goods form China and Europe.

The Karakol market opens only on Sundays so careful when you visit here. This is the market most famous and colorful horse market in Central Asia. You can find livestock of all kinds; sheep, pig, cattle ets.

Among them, I would like to visit Osh Bazaar because I think here is the most traditional one and I think I can find traditional souveniers for my family and friends.

Beautiful Kyrgyz dance!.flv

This is traditional Kyrgyz sance!. As you can see they wear traditonal custom..
You can see the dance usually at the festival.
The Kytgyz dance reflects the culture and enthusiasm of the people of Kyrgyzstan.
The dancers use their hand a lot I think that's why their customs have so wide arm part.
The wide sleeve makes the dance grand and splendidly.
I was surprieds how their hat won't fall down!. They seems dancing fo actively but hats don't move from their head.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye and her Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev signed an agreement Tuesday on Seoul's greater development aid to the Central Asian nation.
The signing took place following a summit meeting between the two leaders at the South Korean presidential office Cheong Wa Dae during Atambayev's three-day official visit to the country, Park's office said in a press release. The Kyrgyz president arrived on Monday.
Under the so-called basic agreement on grant-type aid, South Korea will provide various types of assistance to Kyrgyzstan to help reduce poverty and contribute to social and economic development in the Central Asian nation, according to the release. Switzerland in Middle Asia

I would like to say Kyrgyzstan is "Switzerland in Middle Asia".

There is a big lake with a huge grass land in Kyrgyzstan.
These days many people start to visit there, want to experience healing. So from next season, Asiana, one of the airline in Korea decided to increase the air line.

Existing air line, there are only two times in a week to Kyrgyzstan, but     newly, four times in a week.

With this change, Airline expect to exchange culture Korea and Kyrgyzstan  frequently and visit there more.

How come you know Kyrygzstan?

Before joining "Asian Youth Camp", I might ever know a country called Kyrygzstan. In the camp, I had to be with Kyryg friends for 15 days. Through the days, I've learned many things about their culture and thinking. At the end of the camp, I promised to visit Kytygzstan in winter vacation, so now i'm so excited to search and collect information about there.

Here are my friends

They look similar to us but few things were different to us
Are you not interesting? I think you are :).
